All active hosting accounts which have an email address, can use WebMail to access their mailbox on any Internet-connected computer around the world. The following applies only to mailboxes that exist on your hosting account with Hetzner and does not extend to other email accounts with other providers.
Should you have an email alias setup (an address that forwards all email it receives to another mailbox), you will need to login to the forwarding destination mailbox to see your email.
Using WebMail:
- Browse to konsoleH mail.my-domain or go to (http://myaccount.hetzner.co.za)
- Login with your full email address (eg. me@my-domain.com) and email password. (passwords are case-sensitive)
WebMail is a good option if you are not at your computer, but need to check email from a remote location ie. from an Internet cafe or a friend’s house. Webmail can be used in conjunction with a program like MS Outlook, but remember that Webmail only shows email which is still on the mail server. It cannot display your MS Outlook emails which you have already downloaded to your computer.
How can I whitelist or blacklist an email address?
All incoming mail is scanned by a spam filter. Should you unconditionally wish to accept all emails from a particular address or domain and bypass the spam filter, then you should whitelist the address.
It is also possible to blacklist an email address, which will result in the mail being rejected before it gets to your mailbox and it will be permanently deleted.
Should there be a scenario where an email address is both whitelisted and blacklisted, whitelisting will take precedence and the email will therefore be delivered to your inbox.
Blacklisting or Whitelisting an email address or domain:
- Browse to konsoleH (http://myaccount.hetzner.co.za)
- Login with your domain name (ie my-domain.co.za and control panel password (you will find this in your client zone).
- Select or search for a domain name in the ‘Hosting Service’ tab
- Select ‘Mail’ from the left-hand menu
- Select the ‘Black/Whitelist’ under Mail
- Click on the ‘Whitelist’ or ‘Blacklist’ button at the top of the window
- Enter the email address (or multiple comma-separated addresses) in the ‘Address’ field and Click ‘Add’.
- To remove addresses from the Blacklist/Whitelist, tick the checkbox next to the entry and select ‘Delete’ from the top menu
Should you wish to whitelist/blacklist a whole domain, wildcards are used eg. *@domain.co.za or @domain.co.za will whitelist/blacklist all addresses on the domain.co.za domain.
Whitelisting, blacklisting and spam filtering occurs after ‘mail forwarding’. The destination address of the forwarded mail would need to handle any mail filtering requirements.
